Mata Backs Team-Mate Torres
Chelsea forward Juan Mata has backed team mate Fernando Torres to start scoring for club and country.
The striker started up top alongside Mata in Spain’s 2-0 win over the Czech Republic in Friday’s Euro 2012 qualifier, but once again failed to get his name on the scoresheet.
Torres has scored just three times for Chelsea since his £50million move back in January but has been looking more and more like the Torres of old in the early part of this season, and Mata is backing his team mate to start finding the net on a regular basis once more.
“Torres has done what the coach asked him to do and played well. The goals are a matter of runs and I’m sure he will make these soon. Torres is a great player and a great person,” Mata told Marca.
Mata joined Chelsea in the summer and has made a solid start to life at Stamford Bridge, and has revealed he is settling in well at Stamford Bridge.
“This summer I took a major step in my career by signing for Chelsea and the truth is that everything is going well. I feel comfortable playing [for Chelsea],” he continued.
