Chelsea Move For Arsenal, Liverpool & Spurs Target
Chelsea are gearing up for an £8million swoop for saught-after Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill, according to reports.
Several news reports claim that Chelsea will move to sign Gary Cahill in January after Andre Villas-Boas identified the England international as the man he wants to bolster his side’s shaky defensive quartet.
The England international was subject to a bid from Arsenal in the summer, with Tottenham and Liverpool also strongly linked with the 26-year-old. Bolton slapped a £15m valuation on Cahill in the summer but none of the interested parties submitted a satisfactory offer and he remained with the Wanderers.
However, the depreciation of Cahill’s contract means he will be available for a considerably reduced fee in January and Chelsea are hoping to capture the defender for around £8million.
Villas-Boas has been alarmed by the number of goals conceded by Chelsea this season, having kept just two clean sheets in the Barclays Premier League.
