Sporting Lisbon striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel has expressed his pleasure at being linked with Premier League clubs, but insists he’s happy in Portugal.
Chelsea, Liverpool and Man Utd have all been linked with the Dutch hitman in recent weeks following his blistering start to life in Portugal. van Wolfswinkel only moved to Lisbon from FC Utrecht in the summer and has already scored 7 goals in his opening 9 games.
That form has brought interest from all over Europe, with the players agent confirming any interested parties could sign the striker if his €22m buyout clause is met. However, van Wolfswinkel has admitted he’s flattered to be linked with big clubs in England but is happy in Lisbon at this time.
“It is good that my name was linked to big clubs such as Manchester United and others in England, but I am really content and happy at Sporting,” Van Wolfswinkel told Dutch radio station NOS.
“Things are excellent in every sense. I play for a good club and I am scoring goals because I am taking this satisfaction on to the pitch.”
