Man Utd manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that striker Javier Hernandez has torn ligaments in his ankle and is set for a spell on the sidelines.
Man Utd manager Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that striker Javier Hernandez has torn ligaments in his ankle and is set for a spell on the sidelines.
Hernandez went down untouched in the Villa penalty area during the first half, and was clearly in a lot of pain, holding his ankle. He was stretchered from the field and replays showed he had caught his studs in the turf and turned his ankle. Initial fears were that the Mexican had injured his ankle ligaments, and United boss Ferguson has now confirmed the bad news:
“Hernandez will be out for about three to four weeks with torn ankle ligaments,”
United went on to win the game 1-0 and close the gap on league leaders City to five points. Phil Jones’ goal can be seen here.
