Chelsea and Man Utd have been linked with a late bid to hijack Liverpool’s move for Bologna star Gaston Ramirez.
Liverpool are widely regarded as favourites to sign the midfielder after tracking him for over 18 months and reports in Italy had claimed a deal was all but confirmed. The Reds made initial enquiries in the summer over Ramirez’s availability but have stepped up their interest in recent weeks and were confident of sealing a deal in January.
However, fresh reports today claim that Chelsea and Man Utd have entered the race to sign the talented Uruguayan with both clubs prepared to battle Liverpool for his signature. Sir Alex Ferguson is once again on the look out for a creative midfielder after failing to land any of his summer targets, while Andre Villas-Boas is also keen on bringing in some new talent to his ageing midfield.
The 21-year-old is valued at around £15m and the Premier League trio could face competition from clubs in both Italy and Spain for his services.
