Martina – “Vidic Out Of Action For Several Months”
Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic will be out of action for several months, according to his agent Silvano Martina.
Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic will be out of action for several months, according to his agent Silvano Martina.
Vidic sustained a knee injury after falling awkwardly during United’s 2-1 defeat to Basel on Wednesday and left the stadium on crutches. The Serbian is still waiting for the results of a scan but his agent has claimed the 30-year-old has damaged his cruciate ligament and is set to be out for a prolonged period.
Martina made the revelations after addressing rumours linking Vidic with a move to Italian giants Juventus, a move which he feels is unlikely to happen. Speaking to calciomercato.com, Martina said:
“The interest of Juventus? It seems to me out of place to talk about it, after the injury to the cruciate ligament yesterday,” Martina is quoted as saying by calciomercato.com.
“He’ll be out of action for several months, so even if it were true, now it would have no sense to talk about it.
“In any case, there never was anything concrete, but the media sometimes don’t know what to write.
“Interest from other clubs? In the market a club comes forward for a player when they know that something is broken between him and his current side.
“Instead, Nemanja is the captain of Manchester United, not just any club.”
