BREAKING NEWS: United Confirm Vidic Injury Blow
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed captain Nemamja Vidic will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.
Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed captain Nemamja Vidic will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.
Vidic damaged the cruciate ligament in his right knee after falling awkwardly during Wednesday night’s 2-1 Champions League loss to Basel.
The players agent claimed last night that Vidic would be out for some time and Fergie has now confirmed those fears in his pre-match press conference this morning, ruling his captain out for the remainder of the season. Ferguson said:
“It’s not unexpected but it’s still bad news. We thought it was a bad one and unfortunately he’s out for the season. He sees the specialist on Monday to work out the progress of when he has his operation. It won’t be immediately as we have to let the swelling come down. It’s a blow.”
