Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that defender Thomas Vermaelen should be back in time to face Manchester United at the Emirates on the 22nd January.
The Belgian was forced off during the Gunners 1-0 win over QPR last month and it was feared he may be ruled out for some time.
Ahead of Monday’s FA Cup tie with Leeds, Wenger gave an injury update and revealed none of his long term concerns will be back in time to face Leeds or the Premier League tie with Swansea the following week.
However, Wenger did claim that Vermaelen should be back for the following league fixture against United later this month.
“Sagna and Wilshere are going well of course but it is too early for them. Gibbs is doing well but none of them are ready for the next few weeks at least.
We have to cope at the moment with the situation we face as well as we can. I believe that Thomas Vermaelen is the first to be back after Swansea.”
