Liverpool Transfer News: Jelavic Likely To Sign For Reds According To Father
The father of reported Liverpool target Nikica Jelavic has confirmed there is substantial interest in his son, but he’s likely to join Liverpool over other clubs
With little over a week left in the January transfer window, the transfer gossip is hotting up. Today we have some news that will interest Liverpool fans.
The father of reported Liverpool target Nikica Jelavic has confirmed there is substantial interest in his son, but claimed he is more likely to join the Reds than clubs such as Queens Park Rangers or West Ham.
The Croatian striker has been a stand out performer for Rangers in the SPL hitting an impressive 17 goals in 28 games so far this season.
Speaking to The Sun, Philip Jelavic confirmed that Liverpool were one of several clubs tracking the 26-year-old but his son has greater ambitions than to play for clubs such as QPR or Championship side West Ham, and that he’s “most likely” to move to Liverpool.
“We know about the interest of West Ham and QPR,” Jelavic snr said in The Sun.
“But Nikica has five or six clubs that are interested, including that of the great Liverpool.
“As for West Ham and QPR, Nikica is more ambitious than that.”
“It’s most likely that he’ll sign for Liverpool.
“But there are a few days until the end of the window, so we’ll see.”
Jelovic looks a decent player and a good finisher, but does he have the required talent to succeed at a club like Liverpool? I’m not convinced. He’s far from the ‘world class’ striker that many Liverpool fans are craving for, but world class players don’t come cheap so Kenny Dalglish may be thinking Jelavic is worth a punt. After all, he can’t be much worse than Andy Carroll, can he?
