Ian Ayre Says Money Is Available For Kenny – Who Should He Buy?
Liverpool MD Ian Ayre has told Sky Sports that the club have money to spend if Kenny Dalglish feels he needs it. But who would you like to see arrive at Anfield?
Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre has told Sky Sports News that the club have money to spend if Kenny Dalglish feels he needs it.
Liverpool have been linked with a host of attacking talent this month with Dalglish looking to solve the Reds goal-scoring problems, and Ayre has confirmed to Sky Sports News that money is there to spend:
“Money is not an issue,” Ayre told Sky Sports News. “If we need somebody and there’s a player I think our owners have shown the level of commitment you would expect from a good ownership group that the manager will get supported whatever he needs.
However, before you get too excited Liverpool fans, the MD goes on to stress that while they may have the funds available it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re going to spend it.
Ayre feels the Merseysiders have a long term plan which needs to be respected and while they will continue to look for potential opportunities to add to the squad, the club would prefer to concentrate on improving the current playing staff. Ayre continued:
“But that’s not the same as saying we will just go spend money because we have got it or just because we can.
“It is about the long-term plan of where they want the squad and where they want the team to be, that’s not about any particular transfer window it’s about continuing to improve.
“If an opportunity presents itself I am sure we will look at it, but right now it’s about keeping going and improving and getting the best out of what we have got.
“We have got some great players in a great squad of players and they are focused on pushing that forward.” Ayre told Sky Sports News.
Despite having a Carling Cup final to look forward to, Liverpool still have it all to do to finish in that all important fourth spot and secure qualification to the Champions League. I’m sure most Liverpool fans will be hoping Kenny Dalglish manages to persuade the owners to spend some more of their cash before the window slams shut on Tuesday night.
But who would you like to see arrive at Anfield? Please leave your suggestions in the comments section…
