[Video] Embarrassing Didier Drogba Caught Faking Injury Against Napoli
Chelsea striker Didier Drogba was caught faking injury and glancing at the referee to ensure he’d won a free kick during their 4-1 win over Napoli last night
Chelsea’s Dider Drogba is known for being one of the most feared strikers in the world. Standing at 6 foot 3 inches tall and built like a middle-weight boxer, Drogba causes problems for any defender he comes up against.
So how can this beast of a footballer also have a reputation for play acting and going down too easily? This nasty side to his game was on show once again last night during Chelsea’s heroic 4-1 win over Napoli.
During a night that will surely go down as one of the clubs greatest in recent history, Drogba embarrassed himself and his team mates when he flung himself to the ground holding his face, took a cheeky look towards the referee to see if he’d won a free kick before continuing to pretend he was in agony on the floor.
Unfortunately for Drogba, and the many Chelsea fans who will no doubt defend the player, his antics were caught on camera for all to see. Some will suggest he was caught in the face by the hand of the Napoli player. So what if he was? Does that mean he can pretend to be hurt and glance at the referee to ensure he’s won the free kick? No of course not. Any contact was minimal and didn’t warrant the theatrics. The club deserved better on what was a great night at Stamford Bridge.
Here is the incident, hang your head in shame Mr Drogba:
