Chelsea vs Tottenham: Team News, Likely Line-ups & Predicted Score
London rivals Chelsea & Tottenham face-off against each other at Stamford Bridge this weekend. Here’s team news, likely line-ups & predicted score for the game
Top-four rivals Chelsea and Tottenham face-off against each other at Stamford Bridge in the early Saturday kick off this weekend.
Both sides go into the game desperate for three points after disappointing midweek results. Chelsea let slip a 1-0 lead to go down 2-1 to Man City, while Spurs needed a last minute goal to secure a 1-1 home draw to Stoke.
The results mean Chelsea remain in fifth, five points off fourth-placed Tottenham, who drop behind Arsenal following the Gunners impressive run of six wins on the bounce.
Team News
Roberto Di Matteo has confirmed that defender Branislav Ivanovic is a doubt for the game after being forced off against City, but John Terry will return after missing the midweek trip to the Etihad Stadium. Gary Cahill or David Luiz will drop to the bench.
Michael Essien and Daniel Sturridge are pushing for recalls having missed out against City. Didier Drogba is also likely to come back in for Fernando Torres.
Harry Redknapp is able to welcome back striker Emmanuel Adebayor after he missed the midweek draw with Stoke. Niko Kranjcar is likely to make way, with Rafael van der Vaart moving to the right.
Ledley King is a doubt with a facial injury he picked up in the latter stages of the Stoke game, although he’s expected to make it. Michael Dawson and Tom Huddlestone remain on the sidelines.
Likely Line-ups
Predicted Score
Tottenham have a terrible recent record at Stamford Bridge. They haven’t managed to picked up all three points in the Premier League era, with the last victory coming way back in 1990 when Gary Lineker hit the winner.
Despite Tottenham only taking 1 point from 12, they have played reasonably well during that time. They were unlucky against both United and Everton and if they play like that against Chelsea, they should get a result. I can see an entertaining draw here. Chelsea 2-2 Tottenham.
