United Look To Beat Rivals To £25m Mesut Oezil
By Football Talk.
Manchester United are lining up a £25m offer for Werder Bremen midfielder Mesut Oezil, according to The Daily Express. Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are also said to be interested in Oezil, but it seems United will strike first in an attempt to snap-up the highly rated youngster.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to add some creative flair to his midfield and Oezil would fit the bill perfectly as well as be a long-term replacement for the ageing Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs.
Fergie will make his move after being knocked back it his attempt to sign Wesley Sneijder from Inter Milan, after the Dutchman stated yesterday he would remain at the San Siro next season. United have now set their sights on Germany’s creative star who was a key member of the team that reached the World Cup semi-final in South Africa.
Werder Bremen have come to terms that they will lose Oezil this summer as he has only one year remaining on his current deal and is refusing to sign an extension, meaning the club would lose him for nothing next summer. The player himself has expressed his desire to play in the premier league and named United as well as Chelsea as clubs he would like to play for.

That is a rediculous comment, Germany have been the tournaments big achievers and shown that they have what it takes.
Ozil especially had been a stand out player, he ripped England apart with his pace and trickery getting in behind the defence.
I think he’d be an asset to any team.

What Im Afraid of is that he didnt come up with the goods against the really big teams. In the last 2 games, he did very little, I think the German performance was more about a great team, I wouldn’t get carried away with any individual German Player. He looked very good in the 1st few games, 25 million seems an awful lot considering he’s out of contract next year. How bout a Swap for berbatov?? He’s proven in Germany and still has a decent value there. But could we make him leave for Werder? dont think he’d go willingly

yeah you for the welcome. germany were my favourites this time, only that they lacked a complete mid in muller and spain fluked on that.
Spain is not a team deserving for the final. I bet the winners to be Holland. Van P, the cup is yours for the new picture you really treasure.

Özil shouldn’t go to united Fergie would not appreciate him. Remember his comments about Germans after Bayern put United out of the champions league. The best place I see for Özil is Chelsea he would fit in there.

Germany never played well this WC? Ozil would be a perfect replacement for Fabi but would still prefer fab. Ozil will be at Utd and not Chelsea btw.
ps. final comment to davspurs, which Tottenham player could Ozil not replace if Harry was given the opportunity? Funny, spurs have 1 decent season and all their fans become experts. lol

Yes, Chelsea have all the money, but to match Man.Utd’s status world-wide, they are a disaster….United have millions of supporters all over the world, and have won a few cups more than Chelsea….And with all the money the Blues posses, their stadium is a warehouse compared to the Theatre of Dreams….

Jezz09 I really can’t believe you wrote that. Ozil is exactly the type of player United is looking for, yes Germany had a great performance as a team which is what United always promote. We don’t have as many money hungry stars as all the big spenders trying to buy championships these days. Rooney carried us last season but the team is what got him the goals, even he will tell you that. 25 mill is a large sum but that’s what the transfer market offers for good players and this kid has all the qualities we like, creative, pace and a desire to win trophies so I hope United land him. Go Red Devils!!!
