Man Utd vs Swansea: Preview, Team News, Likely Line-ups & Predicted Score
Man Utd welcome Swansea to Old Trafford for their final home game of the season on Sunday. Here is a preview with team news, likely line-ups and predicted score
Manchester United welcome Swansea to Old Trafford for their final home game of the season on Sunday looking to keep their title hopes alive.
Man Utd go into the penultimate game of the season lying in second place on goal difference after their 1-0 defeat to title-rivals City on Monday. With that goal difference standing at eight in favour of City, it’s unlikely United will be able to close the gap before the season is out so will need some help from Newcastle this weekend if they are to secure title number 20 this season.
By the time United play they will know how Man City fared away at Newcastle, but irrespective of that result Sir Alex Ferguson will be demanding victory to take the title race to the last day of the season.
Swansea arrive at Old Trafford sitting 12th in the league after an impressive year back in the top flight, but their form has dipped slightly in recent weeks with Brendan Rodgers men won just one of their last seven games.
Fergie is likely to be without defender Jonny Evans who continues to recover form an ankle injury. Danny Welbeck will also miss the game after picking up an ankle injury against Man City on Monday, Javier Hernandez is pushing for a recall.
Anderson, Darren Fletcher and Nemanja Vidic remain on the sidelines through injury.
Swansea should be able to recall Angel Rangel after the defender recovered from a hamstring problem that kept him out of last weeks draw with Wolves. Alan Tate is also in contention after a calf injury but is likely to make do with a place on the bench.
If there is one thing you can be sure of with a team managed by Sir Alex Ferguson, it’s their ability to bounce back from disappointment. Monday’s defeat to City would have hurt, but Fergie will ensure they get back to winning ways against Swansea. Man Utd 3-0 Swansea.
