Arsenal Linked With Move For £28m Fernando Llorente

By on May 29, 2012

With the summer transfer window set to open, we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news involving Arsenal. Today, the Gunners are linked with a move for Fernando Llorente.

Fernando Llorente

Arsenal are considering a move for Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente, if a report by the Daily Mail is to be believed.

The report claims that Llorente has only one year left on his current contract and is open to a move to England, but with a £28m buy-out clause in his contract the striker won’t be available on the cheap.

The 27-year-old has enjoyed an excellent year with Bilbao,  scoring 29 goals in 53 appearances in all competitions last season, and helped guide the club to the final of both the Europa League and Copa del Rey.

The Mail claim that any move for Llorente will depend on the future of Robin van Persie, while Arsene Wenger is also tracking Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud.

Verdict

I’m not getting too excited by this latest piece of transfer gossip. Don’t get me wrong, i would love Llorente at the Emirates, but i just can’t see it happening. If RVP does leave this summer, a move for Giroud seems far more plausible and there is very little substance to the Daily Mail’s story.

arsenal and man u would have been preferable option for him because chelsea is not suit how he play.for instance juan mata faded toward the end of last season due to lack of ruged.

Important correction. He’s in the last 12 months of his contract and showing no signs of signing a new one so the release clause is irrelevant. More research should’ve been done.

Wenger should just sign them quickly instead of stalling for a deal to get them cheap. He messes about and Then we lose out to the you know who billionaire teams and it’s pissing people off and ruining football.

I can’t wait for this new law to come in. And I think the FA should put a limit on what a team can pay players. £200,000 plus per week is just killing smaller teams. Especially when there is young men fighting wars for peanuts.

Back to Mr Wenger stop trying for deals or to get people on a free and spend some money, we the supporters have just about had enough. If Yann Mvilla is up for £17 million buy him before we lose him as well. Hoilett is available for free why not go grab him. Also why not Kalou, I hear he has joined Schalke and get another player we lost. And we don’t want De Jong he is a dirty player and is not Yan Mvilla quality.

Now to Vertonghen, why we not go sign the lad, he is a superb defender and it was our defending that cost us so many games last season. Again we could and proberbly will lose him to the Spuds. They get him and keep there players they will finish above us next season. All we are is a feeder club for Chelski and the Mancs city.

Time for a change in the board room I think dean should be brought back and our billionaire owner to do the Same as Chelsea’s owner and Man City’s owners. They obviously want to win things Nd love the club but do ours love our club enough to buy big. Arsenal are becoming a team that plays good football but can’t win trophys. No more kids please just class experienced players.

Its called free market, you get paid what someone is willing to pay.
And someone high school dropout who wants to kill people for a living is of not consequence.
Go work at a McDonald’s but dont make me barf with your serving the country BS when you kill and bomb people for the good of your empire.
If you are drafted, then I feel bad for you but once you decide that killing people without thinking because your boss says so, you lost my sympathy.
Suck a d^^k or swing on a brass pole like Doug Stanhope says but dont try to justify your disregard for human life by bringing patriotism in it.
Thats what you tell the plebes to convince them that its ok.

Shut up we would we want to buy the title like City and Chelsea? We just want 2 or 3 world class players signed up in the areas where we are lacking quality, we don’t want a whole new team of 11 world class players.
And it’s Dein not Dean, David Dein would never come back to Arsenal, at least not when Kroenkes the owner, if Usmanov takes over then i can see him bringing back Dein and pumping money in to the club from his own pocket as he’s the richest man in Russia and 25th richest in the world.

Dude we have wenger in charge. You shouldn’t be talking about 28 million. You can point out 5 useless players at 5m each though.

Absolute bull that so much mst be spent on him. We have two world class strikers in Podolski and RVP,. IF RVP leaves then Giroud should be the man to replace him. Our primary target must be a creative midfielder

It’s getting tiring being ignored when I write comments on all these articles about Llorente. He’s out of contract next summer so he won’t cost anything like 28m. He’ll probably cost less than 15m in reality and less if we offer Vela and/or Bendtner in exchange. How many times do I need to write this before someone sees it.

as much as i would love to see arsenal spend big money on big players it’s more likely that they’ll do what they’ve always done, they’ll buy the cheaper options. dempsey, capoue and hoillett. altho’ i do think m’vila isn’t out of the question as he is valued at about 18 million. i do rate dempsey, capoue and hoillett but wouldn’t be nice to see llorente, m’vila and vertonghen instead.

I think Wenger has done good job. However, he needs to realise that we funs need trophies. Be realistic and patch up midfield and defense. Maintain RVP. I dont want to hear family is considering…. U mean as a club u dont see he needs trophies. bring M’villa and others. EPL is now boring bse of arsenal’s relaxity.

One thing that Wenger and the board refused to realise is that they cannot continue to players as cheap as they used to, things are “changing” and they too need to “change.”

One thing that Wenger and the board refused to realise is that they cannot continue to get players as cheap as they used to, because things are “changing” and they too need to “change. That is the most constant thing in life. Change in attitude towards buying of players.

it’s quite simple really… All we need to do is actually accept that our old tactic (bringing in cheap and young players) doesn’t work anymore!!! It is the reason we have been
trophy-less for 7 years. I am getting pissed off by this!!! We just need to spend some frickin money!!!

must we wait till there contract finishes b4 we go get them? Look my people,if u loose money now u can not gain. Spend money, buy big players and win something.arsenal have only but one big name, rvp. Wenger stop making us loose our money pleaseeeeeeee i beg u in the name of God.

      May 30, 2012 at 4:01 pm

Well Arsenal could’ve spent 30m on him last year or 10m on him this year but I would’ve thought that 20m devaluation in a year is a poor investment. Buying players from clubs of lower reputation who are entering the last year of their contract is excellent business however you look at it. You don’t win titles with 25 world class players. You win titles with 25 excellent players including a few stars all of whom suit your system. There are always a few options.

      • Kevin

        May 30, 2012 at 5:35 pm

You are the only one making any sense on here!! TBH we wont be buying him, his wages will be too high and Man C, Man U, Real Madrid and Barca will prob be in for him. I think he will go Barca as they need a Striker (Villa keeps getting injured) as they rely on Messi too much to get the goals. If he gets injured they would be in trouble! We defo need to sign M’Vila, but I would say get Vertonghen, he class and deBoer rates him higher then The Verminator.
