Hopes of Yann M’Vila Joining Arsenal Fading Fast

Arsenal may have missed their chance to sign Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila this summer after it’s been revealed two major european sides have enquired about him

The summer transfer window is open and Football Talk will bring you all the latest transfer news involving Arsenal. Today, it looks like the Gunners face a fight to land Yann M’Vila.

Yann M'Vila

M’Vila – in demand

Arsenal will face stiff competition to land Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila this summer.

Several reports over the past few weeks have suggested that Arsenal were on the verge of landing the 21-year-old, and the transfer seemed nothing more than a formality. So much so, that you’d have been forgiven for heading over to to place a cheeky bet on M’Vila being a Gunner next season.

Despite the Telegraph claiming a £17.7m deal was all but secured, a transfer was never completed before the player jetted off to Poland and Ukraine with the France squad for Euro 2012 and M’Vila decided to put off any talk over his future until after the championships were concluded.

Now it looks like the Gunners may have missed their chance to sign the highly-rated midfielder, as believe that two un-named European sides have contacted Rennes in recent days to enquire about signing the young Frenchman, and with him now being in the shop window at the Euro’s, it’s likely the competition for his signature will intensify further.

M’Vila has just finished a fine season with Rennes, where he played in all 38 games as the French outfit finished in an impressive sixth place in Ligue 1, but has made it clear he’d like to move to one of Europe’s elite this summer.

FT Verdict

It does look like our inability to move quickly in the transfer market and finalise a deal swiftly could mean we miss out on a top quality player, once again. Juan Mata anyone?

M’Vila was there for the taking and a few weeks ago i thought he was pretty much an Arsenal player already, given the reports that were circulating. But he is now firmly in the shop window and the increased competition for his signature leaves me thinking he’ll be off somewhere else this summer. When will we learn?

Do you think Arsenal will sign M’Vila? Or have we missed our chance? Get involved in the comments section.

Pointless speculating as ‘two un-named’ European sides could be any host of clubs. This is all just jostling to up the annti. We are one of the biggest clubs in Europe so unless its Man City or Chelsea why wouldn’t he want to come to The Emirates?

He is French , Wenger is French the Arsenal Environment is more suitable for him so i believe if Wenger wanted him he can get him our only competitor is Inter and they are not in Champions league this season . i can’t wait to see M’villa & Song playing together what a strong Combination there it will help us a lot in defense .

Forget M’Villa…. knowing AW he has never won a bidding war unless its less than 15m.

And M’Villa is definitely worth more than that so forget him and look for alternatives.

Arsenal would have got Hazard last summer but didnt as AW left it late with Cesc. If he wanted he could have signed M’Villa by now but he didn’t so Arsenal can bye to him..

Sid – it doesn’t really matter whether are correct or not, the fact remains that due to Arsenal’s dilly-dallying we’re far less likely to land a top player.

M’Vila is now going to go to the Euro’s and attract more interest, meaning we’re unlikely to sign him.

Thats based on what? The press? We didnt bid for hazard and as for M’Villa? Spending that much on a defensive midfielder is crackers.

m’vila was never ours, we never bid for him. It was all made up by his agent (from memory). That was confirmed.

Plus can you really see wenger buying another dm with coq and frim coming through… that isn’t his style at all.

Why are you moaning … He doesnt want to come to Arsenal & is holding out for the biggest paycheck just like most of todays so called superstars. Is he really that good… he didnt even make the Ligue 1 team of the year. He should feel privileged that a team such as Arsenal are interested in him. However he has not come out & said he has any desire to join us & I for one no longer want him I want players who are bursting to play for THE ARSENAL!

It is already a done deal, all that is left is a medical (the only bit that can still balls this transfer up) and an announcement. Don’t mind all of the bollocks in the press

  9. Gerry Lennon

    June 7, 2012 at 9:17 pm

I understood back in January that M’vila would not decide his future until after the Euro’s. Nothing has changed, other than Rennes, understandably, are trying to get as much as they can. It is in there to interest to release other clubs inquiries, but how plausible they are is another matter? As for being in the ‘shop window’, well that will depend on how his damaged ankle stands up, as well as how far France get in the competition. So far from a fading fast situation, it is more a wait and see?

It is not about our inability to move quickly. It is about our inability to attract top players. Arsenal FC, sadly, has lost its elite status and top players in Europe do not regard it as a top club any more. There are 6 or 7 clubs these players are aiming for and they only can come to Arsenal it big clubs show no interest at all.Eveb if we move quickly, players like M’Villa will wait for big clubs to show their interest. Sad but true – Arsenal is a second tier club these days.

We arsenal fans are our own worse enemy … he is a good player or else we wouldn’t be enquiring about him so of course other sides are going to be interested ….. so just because other sides are interested in the kid means we can’t get him? The kid will go where he wants to go regardless and it’s obvious he has an interest in us stop being so fucking paranoid and remember that we are still a big club !!

Hey guys come on. This is not the fault of arsenal. They enquired about the player they tabled a bid and the player said he would decide on his future after the euros there is nothing ANY team can do about that. Just respect his wishes and see what happens after the euros keep the faith

City will look to replace Barry with M’Vila. With so french national players in the team and his hero Viera is always available to offer words of persuasion he is only going in one direction. It is unfortunate for Arsenal and Gazardis has finally realized they must make changes if they are to compete in the transfer market or they will always be left with the last minute buys that no-one else wants. Let’s hope they can raid Newcastles players or the players they want to sign. It is clear they are doing something right.

Arsenal still can attract the big names as long as we have champions league qualification. But the board just table a bid and expect the player to sign. They don’t make the effort to sign the player. They do this intentionally to keep the fans quite. Asharvin for example had to make his own transport arrangements to come have a medical and put his papers through. Arsenal board and coach are ignorant bastards only looking to make money. Us fans are taken for granted. They don’t respect us nor their star players

Gays u r ur own worst enemies. U get urselves all worked up on some baseless article.
M’villa explicitly stated whch team he signs for will not be decided after the Euros. That tells me sumthng. He has already made up his mind whch team he signs for probably has agreed personal terms and now jus hoping a good price can be agreed. Isnt tht what any outgoing player want for his former club.
Me thinks Yaan is a Gooner. Jus wait 4 the Euros 2 conclude

  24. Mvilla

    June 8, 2012 at 10:04 am

Mvilla has to sign for bleeding arsenal. We will no other targets for the dm role. Also we should sign affelay, cheap, 8m. 17.7m for mvilla and 10m for a decent defender and another striker. Then get rid of the fringe players. When we sign all these players we will be ready for hull fc

I red most of the speculations ( that’s what they are, just speculations ) and I am delighted to confirm that ( based on reliable sources including France football journalists and l’Equipe chief reader number 2 ) Van Persie will not sign for Arsenal and will choose between Juventus and Man City ( depending on the package )… Podolski has been signed with the knowledge that he will be Van Persie replacement. M’Vila is on his way to Inter Milan or Man City. Again Arsenal has failed ( we have failed ) to enter the transfer war as they are so “keen” to comply to the FairPlay rule…!!
Wenger wants ( still according to France Football ) the DM of Toulouse football club ( best defensive mid of the league and was going to be called up in case M’Vila did not recover ). Olivier Giroud is the next probable signing and Wenger is also considering adding Bebayoun to the frame… Reports suggested that Ramsey might be loaned to a non rival club ( please quick, he is rubbish )…
