The summer transfer window is open and Football Talk will bring you all the latest Chelsea transfer news. Today, a Blues midfielder reveals he’d like to return to Brazil.
Chelsea have been shocked by the news that key midfielder Ramires would like to return to Brazilian club Cruzeiro.
Ramires had an excellent season at Stamford Bridge last term and scored a vital goal away at the Nou Camp en route to Chelsea lifting the Champions League trophy for the first time in their history.
However, despite tasting success with the Blues, the former Cruzeiro ace has thrown his long term future in to doubt by declaring he would jump at the chance of returning to Brazil.
Quoted in the Daily Mail, the 25-year-old revealed that he was happy at Cruzeiro and hopes to return there, but understands it may be difficult for his former side to come up with the funds necessary:
‘I hope for that, that Cruzeiro would come now and try’. If Cruzeiro are interested, it’s possible for me to go back.’
‘Although it’s not a decision I can make and difficult because my price is very high. If Cruzeiro could raise the money, I would go back for sure.
‘I was happy at Cruzeiro and felt an obligation to return at some point as the club offered me a chance to launch my sport career in Europe.
‘I still follow their matches on the internet. The fans were always good to me and named me “Ramires the Warrior”.
‘I still keep all the videos of when I played at the club and in difficult moments at Chelsea I watch them to increase my morale.’
The Brazil international joined Chelsea for £17million in 2010 and has gone on to play 56 games for the club.
FT Verdict
The chances are that some of Ramires’ quote could have been misinterpreted or taken out of context, but even if he would like to return home to Brazil one day, it doesn’t mean he’ll be doing it any time soon.

A lot of South American players make their name in Europe before going home for their twilight years, plus Cruzeiro won’t be able to afford him. Don’t panic Chelsea fans, Ramires will be at Stamford Bridge for the foreseeable future.
