Liverpool Transfer Rumours: Sigurdsson Delays £7m Reds Move
Midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has delayed completing his proposed £7m move to Liverpool from Hoffenheim so he can explain himself to the new Swansea manager.
Midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson has delayed completing his proposed £7m move to Liverpool from Hoffenheim so he can explain himself to the new Swansea manager, according to the Mirror.
The Icelandic midfielder spent a hugely successful six months on loan at Swansea during the second half of last season, scoring 7 goals in 18 appearances for the club.
He was expected to make that move permanent this summer but the transfer collapsed when Brendan Rodgers left his post as Swansea manager to take up the reigns at Liverpool.
The Mirror claim that the 22-year-old will now follow Rodgers to Anfield and complete a £7m move from Hoffenheim, but not before he’s explained his decision to the new Swansea boss – who is yet to be named.
However, Michael Laudrup is the favourite to land the job and could be in place by next week, at which point Sigurdsson is keen to meet with the new manager as well as club chairman Huw Jenkins to explain the situation.
So Liverpool fans will have to wait a little longer before Rodgers can officially announce his first signing at Anfield.
