Yann M'Vila

Arsenal have received a huge boost in their pursuit of midfielder Yann M’Vila after the player admitted his interest in joining the Gunners.

M’Vila is currently away on international duty with the French squad at Euro 2012  and has already declared his intention to leave current club Rennes this summer.

Several reports over the past few weeks have suggested that Arsenal are on the verge of landing the 21-year-old, with the Telegraph claiming a £17.7m deal was all but secured.

The Gunners hopes of signing the midfielder have been boosted further after the player has been quoted by ESPN as saying he likes Arsenal and would be interested in a move to the Emirates:

“I have heard Arsenal are interested in me,” M’Vila told the Daily Star Sunday. “I like Arsenal and I like the Premier League.

“I don’t know what is happening with the clubs, but yes, I would be interested in the Premier League and Arsenal.”

The powerful defensive midfielder played in all 38 league games for Rennes last season and has become a regular since moving to the club in 2009.

FT Verdict

This is the first time M’Vila has openly admitted he wants to join Arsenal and it’s the clearest indication yet that a move is a distinct possibility.
