Barca Don’t Get The Hint As Rosell Flies In With £35m Cesc Offer
Barcelona have taken no notice of Arsene Wengers comments at the weekend and are reported to be flying over to London on Tuesday in a bid to revive their pursuit of Cesc Fabregas. Barcelona-based newspaper El Mundo claims that new president Sandro Rosell and sporting vice-president Josep Maria will meet up with Arsenal officials and present a new and improved £34m bid.
After Arsenal’s 4-0 victory over Barnet on Saturday, Arsene Wenger expressed his desire to keep Fabregas at the club and claimed he was not interested in talking further about the sale of his captain.
It is very important we give the impression that just because somebody wants a player from us, we do not just give in.
‘We have shown our love and care for Cesc since the start. I believe Cesc loves the club, has shown his attachment to the club many times and I am very confident the story will end there.
‘We want Cesc to be part of our club next year, and that is it.’
Many had hoped that would be the end of the matter, but it seems Barca just can’t take no for an answer and somehow feel Arsenal will change their stance with a £34m bid, which is just £5m more than we laughed off back in June. I think we have made it pretty clear that we don’t want to sell, and even if Wenger is just playing a clever ‘poker game’ with Barca and is trying to get as much out of them as possible, £34m is never going to be enough. Come back with £50m and maybe then Arsenal will talk.
As pointed out by some people in the comments section, Arsene Wenger is currently in Austria with the Arsenal squad so Rosell and his buddy wont be meeting up with him if they are flying over tomorrow. My feeling is that El Mundo are trying to get the ‘Cesc to Barca’ bandwagon started again with some fabricated story.
