Chelsea Transfer News: Poland International Linked
Chelsea are lining up a move for Borussia Dortmund right back Lukasz Piszczek, after the Poland international impressed at this summers European championships
Football Talk will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news throughout the summer. Today, we bring you the news that Chelsea have been linked with a move for Lukasz Piszczek.
Chelsea are lining up a move for Borussia Dortmund right back Lukasz Piszczek, according to the Daily Mail.
Piszczek has been in action at this summer’s European championships for co-hosts Poland and his displays have left Roberto Di Matteo suitably impressed.
Di Matteo is on the hunt for a new right back after seeing Jose Bosingwa leave the club on a free transfer, and with Paulo Ferreira also likely to move on this summer, it leaves the Italian boss short of options on the right side of his defence.
Dortmund star Piszczek has now emerged as a serious candidate and the Blues are considering a move for the 27-year-old Pole this summer.
The Daily Mail claim that Ajax’s Gregory van der Wiel, Lille’s Mathieu Debuchy and Manchester United’s Rafael da Silva are all also under consideration, while Inter Milan’s Maicon is also thought to be a back-up option should Di Matteo fail to land one of his preferred targets.
FT Verdict
This report has come a little out of left-field hasn’t it? While Piszczek is a decent player and looked solid at the Euro’s for Poland, I’d be surprised if he ended up at Stamford Bridge.

No doubt Di Matteo will sign a right back this summer, and I have a hunch Debuchy will be the man brought in.
