Arsenal are growing ever hopeful that captain Robin van Persie will perform a dramatic u-turn and sign a new contract with the club, according to the Daily Star.

The report claims the Dutchman has been hugely impressed by Arsene Wenger’s moves in the transfer market this summer as the Frenchman re-builds his squad ahead of next season.

The Gunners have already signed German international striker Lukas Podolski and French hitman Olivier Giroud, but it’s the imminent arrival of Spain midfielder Santi Cazorla that has really got RVP excited.

Cazorla is a regular Spanish international and is on the verge of a £12.65m move to the Emirates after undergoing a medical on Thursday and being introduced to his new team mates at London Colney on Friday.

The 27-year-old is expected to travel with the Arsenal squad to a training camp in Germany next and will be joined by van Persie who is yet to secure a move away from the club, despite releasing a statement earlier in the summer declaring his intention not to sign a new contract due to concerns over Arsenal’s ambitions.

However, the Star claim the Gunners are growing increasingly confident they can persuade the Dutchman to not only stay at the club but sign a new contract after an impressive summer of transfer activity in north London.

The mood at the Colney is said to have been lifted by the arrival of several established players and RVP has also been caught up in the renewed optimism at the Emirates. The Star also claim the 28-year-old has become frustrated by the lack of action from Man City, Man Utd and Juventus and is coming round to the idea of staying as he can now see Arsenal building a squad capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season.

This is an interesting report. On one hand it’s believable that Van Persie could be having second thoughts but it’s going to be difficult for the Dutchman to gain the trust of the Arsenal faithful after leaving them unimpressed with his ill-advised statement.

It’s still more than likely RVP will move on this summer but if Wayne Rooney and Carlos Tevez can perform dramatic u-turns….then why can’t van Perise do it?

Yeah and he’ll get the money for all those players out of the magical money pit he has there at the emirates. He might as well go and by Naymar, Messi and Ronaldo while he’s at it lol.

Honestly though, from a United fan, I hope he stays at Arsenal. For one thing United don’t need him and 2, it’s a bout time players started being loyal to the clubs that made their careers.

hey why do not arsenal pay him 190000 per week he deserve it, why always we say that he is going after money as all of us he need money and thats not a mistake, if Arsenal really believes he world best striker and he can lead us to win some trophies we should pay him what he desire.

RVP will never leave ARSENAL! He adores the club and it’s fans and is only trying to force the owners to spend in the transfer window for the good of the club & he has succeeded!! With the new signings Arsenal will win the Premier League, FA Cup, Carling Cup, Champions League and La Liga!

    Are you tottenham,
    Are you tottenham,
    Are you tottenham in disguise..?
    Are you tottenham in disguise.

RVP Please prove to our rivals that it is not them alone that can win silver-wares, this season go out together with you team mates and the new arrivals and show them how to play the round leather game.

RVP You are welcome back home, our rivals i.e. Man-u & Man-city wants to weaken our squard, it is shame onto them, their youth team is nothing to write home about, they only wants a ready made talents, they reap from where they did not sow with unlaboured wealth. ln AW we trust! up arsenal fans, gunners forever till eternity.

    August 5, 2012 at 1:24 pm

Please my dear intiligent and accurate coach and his team of assistants, go ahead and add quality to your defence mid-fielders and right full back, by then the squard becomes a full team, this is to show Tottenham spur that we are not in the same category. Players’ welfare at Emirate is not comparable to any clubs just execellent to none, also be very vocal in supporting UEFA FFP to logical conclusion till it is accepted.

Big up, RVP! U’ve done us proud….u’ve motivated stubborn Wenger to make sensible signin.

I jus wonder Y Wenger is holdin on to some players(his favorites) like Chamackh, Schollach, Gervino, Alumina….list is endless. honest wen u ve to offload…. do it quick. kip Bentner even though is has become naughty, learnt to misbehave at Sunderland, but he is very useful. Pliz, pliz Wenger dont be stuborn we nid trophies, not yo tempers. look at Chelsea babies they not that gud, but they gat trophies cause they sometimes focused. “mambala posako amano watusebanya pafula”. spend wisely, not cheaply, ba Wenger

I blif Rvp wil stay, i thk God he has successfuly made Wenger 2 bring out his cheque book. Chamakh & Squellachi should be allowed to seek their futures elsewhere. I personaly prefer Bendtner to Chamakh. Gunner-4-life!
