Arsenal have finally struck a deal with Real Madrid to sign Nuri Sahin on a season long loan, according to Sky Sports News.
The Gunners were locked in negotiations with Madrid officials on Monday with the sticking point believed to be whether Arsenal would be allowed the option to buy the Turkish international at the end of his year-long loan stay.
Sky Sports report that an agreement has now been reached between the two clubs, but fails to establish whether Arsenal have managed to get the option to buy that they desired. The only thing left is for the player to give the official go-ahead and the transfer can be completed this week.
Sahin has struggled to establish himself at the Bernabeu since joining Madrid from Borussia Dortmund last summer and made only a handful of appearances last campaign.
Boss Jose Mourinho gave the playmaker permission to leave Madrid this summer in order to gain first team experience elsewhere, and he was soon heavily touted with a move to the Premier League.
Liverpool have also been linked with the 23-year-old but the player has always favoured a move to a team offering champions league football, and it seems he has got his wish with a move to the Emirates awaiting.

The Daily Mail go one step further to suggest the move is now complete after the two clubs reached a compromise over a £14m buy-out clause and claims the player has already given the green light to making the move to the Emirates.
Either way, it looks like the Sahin deal is all but secured and should be officially announced shortly. As ever, we’ll keep you updated.
Personally, i think he’ll prove to be a great addition to the squad but i do feel we still need and out-and-out defensive midfielder to compliment the more creative players. M’Vila would be my preferred choice, but i can’t see Arsene signing two midfielders unless someone else is leaving.
