Hazard’s trickery in the box drew a foul to earn the Blues an 18th minute penalty, which was converted by Frank Lampard. But Reading hit back with two quick goals through a Pogrebnyak header and a Guthrie free-kick – which Cech should have done better with – to give the visitors a shock 2-1 half time lead.
Chelsea drew level after another spot of questionable goalkeeping, this time from Federici, who let in Cahill’s long range effort for 2-2. With less than 10 minutes remaining Fernando Torres put the home side ahead once more, although replays showed the Spaniard may have been offside.
As Reading pushed for the equaliser, Federici came forward for an injury time corner but got caught out as Hazard burst clear to set up Ivanovic to tap home into an empty net for 4-2. Watch all the goals below:
