Villas-Boas Gives Transfer Update: Remy, Moutinho & More….
Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has given his thoughts on speculation linking him with moves for Loic Remy, Joao Moutinho, Willian and Hugo Llloris
As we enter the final stages of the summer transfer window, Football Talk will be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer news. Today, Andre Villas-Boas gives a transfer update.
Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has given his thoughts on speculation linking him with moves for Loic Remy, Joao Moutinho, Willian and Hugo Llloris.
Recent reports have suggested Spurs chairman Daniel Levy was in France to negotiate the transfer of Marseille hitman Loic Remy. However, speaking at his weekly press conference the Portuguese coach told Sky Sports News that these reports were wide of the mark, insisting the 25-year-old would not be moving to White Hart Lane this summer.
“There was massive speculation today with Remy and that’s not the case.”
AVB was then asked if he could confirm the France international would not be joining Tottenham, to which he replied:
“Yes.”
Spurs have also been heavily linked with a move for Porto’s playmaker Joao Moutinho, and while Villas-Boas admits he has enquired about the 25-year-old, he concedes the player is out of Tottenham’s financial reach.
“I’ve spoken about this player before. Porto is an extremely difficult club to deal with and I think the players’ value is over what Tottenham can afford.”

The Portuguese boss was then pressed about his interest in Shakhtar Donetsk attacker Willian and again AVB admitted he had held talks over the player but claims the wealthy Ukrainians are proving difficult to negotiate with.
“We had initial contact with Shakhtar,”
“Again, Shakhtar is a wealthy club with a wealthy owner and not easy to deal with.
“‘We have approached the club and the player with contacts and at the moment it doesn’t seem to be happening.”
Tottenham are said to be closing in on the signing of Lyon goalkeeper Hugo Lloris as well this week. Villas-Boas admitted it’s an area he is looking at strengthening but claims he might not necessarily bring in a new stopper before the window closes on Friday night.
“We are very comfortable with our goalkeepers. We can take into account that there’s a future we have to prepare.
“On that sense we’ve studied possibilities on that position. It doesn’t mean we could conclude a deal for that position in this window.”
AVB told Sky Sports
