Ashley Cole Ready To Quit Chelsea After Being Left Stunned By Contract Offer

Ashley Cole is in the middle of another contract dispute and is ready to walk out on Chelsea after only being offered a one-year contract extension by the club

Ashley Cole is ready to leave Chelsea after only being offered a one-year contract extension by the club, according to the Sun.

The 31-year-old is now in the final year of his contract and is yet to agree terms on a fresh deal. Talks over a new contract have been slow in coming and a resolution isn’t likely to be reached any time soon after Chelsea’s opening offer of just a year extension has left Cole distinctly unimpressed.

If he doesn’t pen a new deal in the coming months, Cole will be able to talk with other clubs in January over a possible free transfer move next summer.

An apparent ‘insider’ told the Sun that Roman Abramovich is only prepared to offer players over 30 one-year deals, and not even the worlds best left-back is going to get special treatment.

“Mr Abramovich has a rule that anyone over 30 can only be given a one-year extension but it’s madness in Ashley’s case.

“Everyone knows he’s the best left-back in the world.

“He trains hard, really looks after himself and can play at this level for many more years to come. There isn’t a club in the world who wouldn’t want Ashley on a free.”

The England ace has previous when it comes to contract disputes and famously left Arsenal in 2006 after ‘only’ being offered £55,000-a-week by the Gunners.

Cole is understood to be willing to see out his career at Stamford Bridge but is unlikely to agree to just a one-year deal. At 31, this is likely to be his final big contract and he could easily get a three or four year deal elsewhere.

Real Madrid, PSG and Zenit St Petersburg have all been linked with a move for Cole in recent months but if he’s available on a free next summer, you can guarantee there will be a long list of interested parties.

well blow me down- what harsh cruelty is this. I bet he feels like sticking a phone up his rear end, sleep with a few ropey birds, crashing his motor and eating a choc ice all at the same time.

Cashley, me old son- welsome to the world of reality – couldnt happen to a nicer bloke either

what else was he expecting? I personally think that clubs owned by a single individual or what ever should not be a desired destination for any player above 25 years. They’ll just get used and dumped!!!….Take a look @ Drogba,Malouda,Mereiles e.t.c

None of the players you stated were used and dumped. A contract is different from a wedding or emotional relationship. Malouda last season was playing like a 15-year old. Meireles has never and will never be world class. Drogba has achieved legendary status and Chelsea would never truly moved forward without selling him. Take a look at their style now and think before you post

He’s not even close to being teh worlds best left back. Maybe a few years ago, but the last two seasons he’s been patchier than John Terry’s hair…

Yes the policy is good any player more than 30yrs should not sign more than one year contract is good

That is cruel. Considering that Ashley Cole is one of †ђξ best left backs in †ђξ world. We all saw what he did for Chelsea last season: especially in †ђξ match against Barca. At 31 he is stronger than most of Chelsea’s players. We should give him a minimum of 2-3 years deal cos there is no replacement for him right now. Up Chelsea!!!!

Funny how Chelsea are having to copy Arsenal’s contract policies now that financial reality begins to bite…

So chelsea management is not willing to keep Cole, and they never bring back our loaned defenders like Vanholt and co. even Betrand is now attacking, who is replacing cole. Pls if Malouda can be treated as a reserve player in which is bcos we have many more attacking talented players but stil not fair for a player, cole should not be treated lyk this cos we dont have any replacement for him right now. Reason so that Chelsea wont regret throwing Cole away

Mauling over contracts is not strange to a rebel. U thought u can harrass chelski the way u did to gunners when u were toast of everyone. Can u plz stop destracting serious club members? The options open to u is to take a year contract with ur present weekly pay or four years with the same amount u refused at Gunners.

Reality paging Mr Cole! Reality paging Mr Cole! Cashley needs to realise that the main point of a long term deal from a club’s perspective is to safeguard resale value. Once the potential resale starts to fall away, so does the length of the contract offer. He’s not in control of this particular Bentley, so it’s not up to him whether it crashes or not…

They might regret it, but i know they wont its hight time we ship out these old guard, they have been reliable but age matters especially in his position, if he really wants to stay he should take the deal, lamps and jt were smart enough to negotiate their when thet were 29 and sign 5yr deals, cole take the deal, yes your the best and it comes with a price, we’ve payed the price and shwn our loyalty to your through the yrs at your good times and bad one’s.

Dont play the victim Ashley,if you really love the club you will take the one year snd if all is still good at the end of it Chelsea will probably ask you to renew it.
Denis Bergkamp did just that at Arsenal for about 2 or 3 seasons.

Best left-back in the world ? Last season Chelsea had the 7th best defensive record in the league (Everton 3rd best), Cole scored zero goals while Baines scored 5. That doesn’t tell the whole story but I think Cole is one of the most overrated players in world football. Useless for England too.

As a Gooner what do I say? If this is true then how else does he prove his class? EPL titles, FA cups now CL medal. I can just see Sir Alex’s antennae beeping, City as well maybe? What about a return to the Arsenal? well I dunno…fans are fans u know they pay.. some (not all) of us hammering our keyboards can say what we want but we can’t all feel the level of emotion of the paying fan and many are still bitter about Ashley. In the words of A.W. think he is a top player and could go on for another 4-5 years

our policy of ditching experience is going to come back to haunt us… it was the old heads that won us the champions league last season. trying to get the average age of the squad down doesn’t mean getting rid of great players.
