Abramovich Finally Agrees To Ditch Torres & Sign Falcao

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is finally ready to give up on £50m flop Fernando Torres and make funds available for the purchase of striker Radamel Falcao.

Despite the transfer window being closed, there is always transfer gossip doing the rounds in the papers and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest news during the coming months. Today, Chelsea are ready to ditch Torres and go for Falcao.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is finally ready to give up on £50m flop Fernando Torres and make funds available for the purchase of Radamel Falcao, according to the Daily Mail.

Boss Roberto Di Matteo has been keen to add a new striker to his squad since Didier Drogba left in the summer but Abramovich was adamant Torres was given the chance to prove he was worth the huge sum he spent on him almost two years ago.

However, the Spaniard has continued to struggle for form this season and the Blues owner is now finally prepared to admit defeat and make funds available to sign a new forward with Falcao his number 1 target when the window re-opens.

The 26-year-old is also being tracked by Manchester City and Real Madrid, but has recently reaffirmed his desire to play in the Premier League and hinted at a move to Chelsea:

‘Chelsea are champions of Europe and there is not much more to say than that. Even after winning the Champions League they still go and sign players of the highest quality. Their ambition is clear.

‘I would not be worried about the physical aspect of the Premier League. I have scored goals in Argentina, Portugal and now Spain. I am confident I can adapt my game to any league. I would welcome the challenge of the Premier League.

I was also a big fan of Gianfranco Zola when I was growing up. I have watched the Premier League for a long time. There is so much quality and it is such an exciting league. Of course it is nice to think I might play in it.’

Falcao is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail

With Ateltico Madrid having financial difficulties they will almost certainly be forced to sell the Colombian hitman to the highest bidder, although the striker has a £48m buy-out clause in his contract and the Spanish outfit may hold out for that figure.

Falcao is believed to be keen on seeing out the remainder of the season with Atletico to ensure they secure Champions League football for next season, and Chelsea are prepared to wait to get their man.

But whether Chelsea manage to get him in January or next summer, his arrival could spell the end of Fernando Torres’ time at Stamford Bridge. Speculation has suggested that Torres may return to his former side Atletico as part of a player-plus-cash deal involving Falcao.

I feel torres can’t get any better bcos he doesn’t even have age on his side anymore, falcao is the best bet for chelsea with the combinationation of the trio in hazard, mata , and oscar. Falcao should be signed in January…. And it would be more realistic winning the premier league!!!!

Forget abt Torres, (he’s gone) just get a good striker even if it’s not Falcao, because a striker like Torres is better used as a defender! But we’ve Azpilicueta, so! Sell him. My openion is get Bony & Falcao, Chelsea need more young striker! that’s what Man U is profiting from.

Sell Torres nd buy me Falcao. Torres is earning too much he should be offloaded because hes not good enough for that wages hes taking. Falcao come nd toress out.

Retain Lukaku and Moses also can play as a central forward if hes giving a chance nd sturridge converted to Moses position.

Falcao is not proven in the EPL and too many top players flop in the toughest league of all. Chelsea played 63 games last season, more than any other team. Swap Torres for Fellaini, it could be good for both players.

Torres would benefit from falcao arrival cause he would watch from the bench and that would increase his hungry for goal when he see Falcao disgracing the net, he will want to be careful whenever he holds the ball and watch the net well before shooting. I believe Torres will come good if Falao comes in.
