Norwich vs Man Utd Preview: Team News, Likely Line-ups & Predicted Score
Norwich welcome Manchester United to Carrow Road on Saturday evening. Here is a preview with team news, likely line-ups and predicted score for the big game.
Manchester United will be hoping to extend their lead at the top of the table as they travel to Carrow Road to face Norwich City on Saturday evening.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s side go into the game off the back of last weekends impressive comeback against Aston Villa, coming from two goals down to run out 3-2 winners. However, the United boss will be keen to tighten up at the back having seen his side concede 16 goals already this season and have had to come from behind on several occasions.
Despite their problems at the back, United look formidable up front and are currently two points clear of rivals Manchester City.
The Red Devils will face a tough Norwich side who’ve already shown this season that they can mix it with the best on their own turf. Chris Hughton’s side ran out 1-0 winners over Arsenal last month and have been on a strong run ever since.
The Cannaries are currently on a five-game unbeaten run but that record will come under serious threat this weekend.
The home side will once again be without defender Russell Martin as he remains sidelined with a back injury. However, Chris Hughton will be able to call upon on-loan Tottenham striker Harry Kane after he recovered from a broken metatarsal.
Midfielder Alex Tetty is also expected to be fit despite missing Norway’s friendly with Hungary due to a minor back complaint.
Sir Alex Ferguson has a major doubt over striker Wayne Rooney after he missed England’s clash with Sweden due to an ankle injury and he’s unlikely to be risked.
Fergie has a ready-made replacement in the form of Javier Hernandez who came off the bench to grab a hat trick last week and he should partner Robin van Persie in attack after the Dutchman shook off a thigh injury.
Jonny Evans is expected to miss out again with a groin injury, Chris Smalling should continue alongside Rio Ferdinand at the back. Phil Jones is close to full fitness after training all week but will have to wait to make his return. Shinji Kagawa and Nemanja Vidic remain on the sidelines.
Despite the home side’s positive recent run and United’s dodgy defence, Fergie has too much power at his disposal in attack for Norwich to handle. Robin van Persie is bang in form and with Hernandez also on fire following his treble against Villa, the pair should tear into the Cannaries on Saturday night. Norwich 0-2 Man Utd.
