Transfer News: Spurs & Liverpool Eye Real Madrid Striker
Liverpool and Tottenham are considering a summer move for Real Madrid striker Jose Callejon, who has a £16.3 million buy-out clause in his current contract.
Despite the transfer window being closed, there is always transfer gossip doing the rounds in the papers and we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest news during the coming months. Today, Liverpool and Tottenham are linked with a young striker.
Liverpool and Tottenham are considering a summer move for Real Madrid striker Jose Callejon, according to talkSPORT.
The Spanish forward came through the youth ranks at Madrid and represented the B and C teams before leaving for Espanyol in 2008. After three years, he returned to Real in 2011 but has failed to hold down a regular first team place, making just 36 appearances for the club during that time.
talkSPORT claim the 21-year-old may be ready to consider a move away from the La Liga giants if his situation doesn’t improve during the second half of the season, with Liverpool and Tottenham said to be ‘leading the chase’ for his signature if he does decide to move on.
However, the report also states that Madrid still value the young striker highly and the Premier League duo would have meet Callejon’s £16.3m buy-out clause to be able to lure him away from the Bernabeu.

Callejon has represented Spain at under-21 level but is yet to force his way into the senior national side – which is no reflection on his ability given the quality he’s up against to get into the World and European champions squad!
At 21, he’s coming to that age where players begin to yearn for regular first-team football and if he’s not going to get it at Real, he may very well decide to move on once again. Will he end up at Liverpool or Tottenham? Only time will tell but talkSPORT seem to believe they are keeping an eye on him ahead of a potential summer move, so watch this space…
