With the January transfer window now open for business we’ll be keeping you up-to-date with all the latest transfer gossip. Today, Spurs are linked with an SPL striker.
Tottenham are lining up a surprise move for Celtic hitman Gary Hooper with Andre Villas-Boas said to be scouting the player on Tuesday night, according to talkSPORT.
The report claims Hooper wants out of Celtic after rejecting the Scottish giants latest offer of a contract extension, with Tottenham understood to have joined Norwich in showing an interest in the striker.
talkSPORT report that the Cannaries have already had two bids turned down for the 24-yar-old and are considering offering Grant Holt as bait to finally land the former Scunthorpe man, but they may now face competition from Spurs with boss AVB understood to be at Celtic Park on Tuesday night to watch the striker against Dundee United.
With Emmanuel Adebayor away at the African Cup of Nations, the north Londoners are looking short up front with Jermain Defoe the only recognised senior striker on the books, so it would be no surprise if AVB tried to bring in another option before the window slams shut at the of the month.

A move for Hooper may raise a few eyebrows but he’s got an excellent strike rate north of the border with 71 in 116 games the SPL champions, so he certainly knows where the goal is. Plus, if he did end up moving south he would be hungry to prove himself to try and earn his first England international call-up, so I would see it as a good piece of business if Spurs end up signing the hitman.
