Tottenham Transfer News: AVB Makes Late Move For £20m Brazilian Striker
Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas is trying to pull off a late swoop for Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao who is valued at £20m by his club Internacional

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas is trying to pull off a late swoop for £20m-rated Brazilian striker Leandro Damiao, according to the Daily Star.
The report claims the north Londoners are concerned their lack of firepower could hamper their hopes of securing a top-four finish after a lack of options up front was exposed during Sunday’s 2-1 FA Cup defeat to Leeds United.
Emmanuel Adebayor is on international duty with Togo at the African Cup of Nations and Jermain Defoe has picked up a pelvic injury that could rule him out for a month, leaving Villas-Boas with no recognised senior strikers at his disposal. American Clint Dempsey can be used as a make-shift front man but that is unlikely to be sufficient firepower if Spurs are to maintain hopes of qualifying for next seasons Champions League.
The Portuguese coach insisted after their FA Cup exit that he was satisfied with his strike options, saying:
“We are happy with the options we have.” AVB is quoted as saying by the Star
However, the Star claim that privately Spurs have been working hard to try and bring in a new striker before Thursday’s deadline and have not given up hope of landing Damiao, who valued at £20m by his club.
The 23-year-old has scored 24 goals in 43 appearances for Internacional this season and has already got 14 caps for Brazil under his belt, so he would certainly be a huge asset if Spurs can lure him to White Hart Lane this month.

The Star claim Internacional have rejected offers for the striker from Spurs in the past but the north Londoners are believed to be ready to offer a cash plus player deal involving goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes to try and persuade them to do business this time around.
