Atletico Eye Suarez To Replace Chelsea-Bound Falcao
Atletico Madrid are lining up a move for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez to replace Radamel Falcao, with the Colombian tipped to move to Chelsea this summer.
Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Atletico Madrid eye Luis Suarez to replace Chelsea-bound Radamel Falcao.
Atletico Madrid are lining up a move for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez to replace Radamel Falcao, who’s tipped to move to Chelsea this summer, according to the Daily Mail.
The report claims Atletico are planning to cash in on Falcao this summer while his value is at it’s peak and informal talks are already underway between the Spanish outfit, Chelsea and Falcao’s agent, Jorge Mendes, over a summer move that would see the £43m-rated hitman move to Stamford Bridge.
The Mail suggest Man City are also interested but the Blues remain favourites to land the prolific Colombian because Atletico want to sign on-loan Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois on a permanent basis, so are understood to be keen on a player-plus-cash swap deal.
The newspaper claims Atletico are planning to use the money raised from Falcao’s sale to target Liverpool’s in-form striker Luis Suarez and while the Uruguayan’s agent Pere Guardiola has been made aware of Atletico’s interest, no formal approach is expected until nearer the end of the season with the Spaniard’s said to value Suarez at around £35m.
Atletico are enjoying an excellent season with Diego Simone’s side currently sitting second in the La Liga table and well on course to qualify for the Champions League next year. Liverpool on the other hand look destined to miss out on a top-four finish in the Premier League, so it may be a tempting proposition for Suarez if Atletico do come in with a formal offer.

It would be a stunning double-move should this proposed striker merry-go-round occur. Liverpool’s loss would most certainly result in Chelsea’s gain but there is a long way to go before all of this happens. While Falcao to Chelsea may look promising, if Liverpool decide to sell Suarez I’m sure it won’t just be Atletico Madrid who’d be interested in signing him and judging by the form he’s showing this season, I’d suggest it may take a bit more than £35m to persuade the Mserseysiders into a sale.
