Spurs Players React On Twitter To Inter Thriller Including Lennon, Bale & More…
Tottenham players took to Twitter to react to a thrilling clash against Inter Milan that saw Spurs progress to the last eight of the Europa League on away goals
Tottenham made hard work of qualifying for the last eight of the Europa League last night after Italian giants Inter Milan pushed them all the way in a thrilling clash at the San Siro.
Heading in to the second leg holding a commanding 3-0 lead from the first leg at White Hart Lane, Spurs already had one foot in the quarter finals. But things didn’t go according to plan as Inter shocked the Londoners by forcing extra-time after levelling the tie 3-3 on aggregate.
However, Emmanuel Adebayor struck the decisive blow as he grabbed a priceless away goal in extra-time before Inter ensured it was to be a nervy last 10 minutes after scoring one of the two goals they needed to progress. Spurs hung on to go through on away goals after the tie finished 4-4 on aggregate and some of the Tottenham players took to Twitter after the game to react to what was a pulsating encounter.
Winger Gareth Bale missed the game through suspension but congratulated his team mates on getting through, despite doing it the hard way:
“We don’t do it the easy way… well done lads #quarterfinals” Bale tweeted
German midfielder Lewis Holtby was a second half substitute and he used his personal Twitter account to apologise to the fans for the teams performance but stressed the important thing is they qualified:
“Omg Sorry for our Performance..:-S , i guess its Sometimes Unexplainable! Well we are through, Main Thing! COYS”
Aaron Lennon was also introduced in the second half and he said he felt Spurs were lucky to get through before wishing the fans a safe journey home:
“Lucky to go through tonight but we are and that’s all what matters now, great support again out here, get home safely everyone #COYS” Aaron Lennon Tweeted last night.
