Dortmund Ace Urged To Snub Manchester United
Roman Weidenfeller has urged team-mate Robert Lewandowski to snub a potential summer move to Manchester United and stay at Borussia Dortmund, according to reports
Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Robert Lewandowski is urged to stay at Borussia Dortmund.
Roman Weidenfeller has urged team-mate Robert Lewandowski to snub a potential summer move to Manchester United and stay at Borussia Dortmund, according to the Express.
Lewandowski has been in excellent form in front of goal this season scoring 27 goals in just 37 games so far to take his tally to 66 in 127 appearances since moving to Dortmund from Lech Poznań in 2010.
The 24-year-old’s future has been questioned in recent months due to the striker not signing a contract extension and with his current deal due to expire in 2014, Dortmund may have to cash-in this summer or risk losing him for nothing 12 months later.
The Express claim run-away Premier League leaders Manchester United are keen to lure the Polish hitman to Old Trafford this summer but Weidenfeller has told his team-mate to turn down a big-money move and stay at Dortmund.
“Of course we joke around when we are in different cities in Europe. We make jokes about his [Lewandowski] next destination but we’re just joking,”
“Lewandowski is not only technical, he’s also very quick and has a feeling for goals, so whenever there’s a chance he senses it. Every club would be happy to have a player like him.
“The best place for Lewandowski is here in Dortmund and we hope to keep him. He grew to become a big player here and he belongs to this team.” Weidenfelleris quoted as saying by the Express

While Lewandowski is an excellent talent, a move to Manchester United would be a little surprising given the array of attacking talent currently on offer to Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford. Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck are all on the books at United already so it’s difficult to see where another striker would fit in unless one of the existing quartet moves out.
