Liverpool & Spurs To Revive Diakite Interest
Liverpool and Tottenham are tipped to renew their interest in Lazio defender Modibo Diakite after his proposed move to Napoli fell through over personal terms
Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Liverpool and Tottenham are linked with Modibo Diakite.
Liverpool and Tottenham will renew their interest in Lazio defender Modibo Diakite after his proposed move to Napoli fell through, according to talkSPORT.
The report claims the Premier League duo looked to have missed out on the 26-year-old centre-back – who is out-of-contract at the end of the season – after his agent held talks with Serie A side Napoli over a potential move to the Stadio San Paolo last month.
However, the Liverpool and Spurs have now received a boost with talkSPORT suggesting the two parties failed to reach an agreement and the English pair are now expected to revive their interest in Diakite and will look to lure him away from Italy this summer.
With Anfield legend Jamie Carragher set to retire at the end of the season, Brendan Rodgers is likely to be on the look-out for another centre-back and the 6 foot 4 inch Frenchman could fit the bill nicely.

But the report suggests that Liverpool will not only face competition from Spurs for his signature, but also from Serie A duo AC Milan and Fiorentina – who’re also understood to be tracking the powerful defender.
