Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Angelo Ogbonna responds to rumours of interest from Man Utd.
Italian defender Angelo Ogbonna has admitted rumoured interest from Manchester United is flattering but insists he’s only focussed on doing his best for current club Torino, according to talkSPORT.
The report claims scouts from the Premier League champions-elect have been regularly keeping tabs on the highly-rated defender with representatives believed to be in the stands for Torino’s 2-1 defeat to Roma on Sunday.
talkSPORT suggest Ogbonna is high on Sir Alex Ferguson priority list this summer as he looks to strengthen his defensive options ahead of next season, as doubts continue to grow over the long-term futures of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic.
However, while the 24-year-old has admitted the reported interest from Ferguson is flattering, he insists his only focus is ensuring Torino remain in Serie A this season.
“If Ferguson’s son came to see me, then obviously that is very gratifying, but at this moment I am not thinking about the future,” he said.
“I live in the present. I, just like all of my teammates, am focusing only on securing safety for Torino.” Ogbonna is quoted as saying by talkSPORT
