United To Use Outcast As Bait To Land Colombian Winger?
Manchester United could try and use Porto’s interest in midfielder Anderson to finally land Colombian winger James Rodriguez this summer, according to reports
Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, could United use Anderson to land James Rodriguez?
Manchester United could try and use Porto’s interest in midfielder Anderson to finally land Colombian winger James Rodriguez this summer, according to the Telegraph.
The report claims Porto are interested in re-signing Anderson six years after selling him to United for £25.7m, but the Portuguese outfit are struggling to come up with the funds required to sign the Brazilian midfielder.
The Telegraph suggest United may now use the situation to their advantage to try and land Porto winger James Rodriguez – who’s a long-term target of United’s – by suggesting a player-plus-cash swap deal.
Rodriguez is a 21-year-old attacker who’s been hugely impressive since joining Porto from Banfield in 2010, scoring 24 goals during his 59 league appearances so far, and he would certainly add another dimension to the United attack if the Manchester giants were able to lure him to Old Trafford this summer.
The Telegraph claim that Porto will try and press ahead with a move for Anderson regardless of United’s interest in Rodriguez, but a swap deal could suit all parties.
Anderson arrived in England with a reputation as one of the most exciting youngsters in Europe but has struggled to establish himself at Old Trafford, making just 167 appearances during six seasons at the club, and it looks like the 25-year-old could be on the way out this summer and a potential return to Porto could be on the cards.
