Lewandowski Ready To Snub Bayern Munich For ‘Dream’ Man Utd Move
In-form Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski is ready to turn down Bayern Munich in order to secure a ‘dream’ move to Manchester United this summer.
Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, more on the future of Robert Lewandowski.
Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski is ready to snub Bayern Munich in order to seal a ‘dream’ move to Manchester United this summer, according to the Daily Star.
The Polish hitman has become one of the most sought-after strikers in Europe after his stunning four-goal performance against Real Madrid on Wednesday night.
The Star claim Man Utd boss Sir Alex Ferguson is a long-term admirer of the 24-year-old’s and once again sent scouts to run-the-rule over him this week, with the representatives sure to have been impressed with what they saw as he put Dortmund on course to reaching the Champions League final with a devastating display against the Spanish giants.
Lewandowski has just 12 months left to run on his current contract and has made it clear he won’t be signing an extension, leading to serious question marks over his future.
Despite Bayern Munich dismissing reports suggesting they have already signed a pre-contract agreement with the striker, the German champions are understood to hold a strong interest and they may try to reunite Lewandowski with current team-mate Mario Gotze at the Allian Arena next season.
However, the Star claim Dortmund are determined not to lose another player to their rivals – which could put United in the driving seat should the Bundesliga outfit decide to cash in this summer – and the newly-crowned Premier League champions have received a further boost after an apparent ‘source’ told the newspaper that Lewandowski has already told friends he wants to move to the Premier League, with Old Trafford understood to be his preferred destination:
“He has options, including offers from German and Spanish clubs, but he wants to go to the Premier League because it’s the biggest and best in the world.” A source told the Star
The Polish international has been in excellent form since his move from Lech Poznan in 2010, scoring 74 goals in his 132 appearances for Dortmund so far, including 33 this season.
While he’d no doubt be a huge asset to Sir Alex Ferguson if he does end up making a move to United, it’s difficult to see how the Scot will be able to fit him in with Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck already on the books. Surely someone would have to make way for Lewandowski, with Hernandez perhaps the likeliest candidate.
