Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Manchester United target Nicolas Gaitan would love to play in England and Nemanja Matic’s agent is not surprised he’s attracting interest from Old Trafford.
Gaitan keen on England
First up and the Metro are reporting that Manchester United target Nicolas Gaitan would love to play in the Premier League. The report claims Sir Alex Ferguson is a long-term admirer of the midfielders and has had the 25-year-old scouted several times this season ahead of a potential summer move.
United have now been boosted after the players agent, Jose Iribarren, confirmed his client would be keen on a move to England, although Spain or Italy may also appeal to the Benfica ace. When asked about United’s interest, Iribarren is quoted as saying by the Metro:
‘He would love to play in England, but Spain and Italy also speak to him,’
The newspaper suggests that United would have to pay in the region of £25m to land Gaitan this summer with Benfica understood to be open to doing business, and a player-plus-cash swap deal involving Anderson has also been mooted.
Matic attracting interest
Next up and the Express are reporting that United are also showing an interest in Gaitan’s team-mate Nemanja Matic with Ferguson believed to be considering a summer move for the midfielder.
Matic has been in superb form for the Portuguese outfit since making the move from Chelsea and has been ever-present for Benfica so far this season.
The Serbian international’s display’s haven’t gone unnoticed and the players agent, Dejan Mitrovic, is not surprised his client is attracting interest from the likes of United after being given the opportunity to show what he’s capable of. When asked about reported interest from Old Trafford, Mitrovic is quoted as saying in the Express:
“With how Matic is doing it is normal that clubs are interested in him,”
“It is amazing how his game has developed and how he plays in every game; so many clubs want to watch a player like him.
“At Chelsea he never had any good opportunities and he is now feeling well at a big club like Benfica.”
