Man Utd Transfer News: Latest On Marquinhos & Marchisio
Champions Manchester United have been linked with summer moves for Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchiso and Roma’s highly-rated central defender Marquinhos.
Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Man Utd are linked with Claudio Marchiso and Marquinhos.
Fergie steps up Marchiso interest
First up and the Express are reporting that Manchester United are pressing ahead with their interest in Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchiso after Sir Alex Ferguson identified him as a potential target who could add creativity to his midfield next season.
The report suggests that United will make their move at the end of the season with the Serie A champions understood to be willing to do business for £21m as they need to raise funds to bring in another striker this summer.
Marchisio has a contract with Juve that runs until 2016 and has previously hinted he would like to try his luck in Germany if he was to ever leave Italy, so United may have their work cut out in trying to persuade him to move to Manchester.
Battle on for Roma youngster
Next up and talkSPORT claim that United will battle it out with Barcelona for the signature of highly-rated Roma central defender Marquinhos this summer.
The 18-year-old has been in excellent form in Serie A this season after being given his chance in the Roma first team and the report claims that United have been keeping a close eye on his progress in recent months.
However, the champions may now face stiff competition from Spain with talkSPORT suggesting that Barca are lining up an £18m bid for the youngster as Tito Vilanova plans a summer overhaul of his squad after their embarrassing Champions League exit to Bayern Munich.
