Man Utd Transfer News: Kebbie In, Hernandez Out?
Man Utd are interested in signing Atletico Madrid defender Elliot Kebbie and may consider a swap deal involving unsettled striker Javier Hernandez this summer
Despite the transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, could United be about to swap Hernandez for Kebbie?
Manchester United are interested in signing Atletico Madrid defender Elliot Kebbie and may consider a swap deal involving unsettled striker Javier Hernandez this summer, according to the Mirror.
Kebbie is an English born 18-year-old who took the brave decision to move to Atletico in 2011 after coming through Leeds United’s youth academy. He is predominantly a right back but can also operate in midfield and is known for his lightning pace.
The Mirror claims that Manchester United were interested in signing him two years ago before the youngster opted for a switch to Spain, and boss Sir Alex Ferguson is understood to have kept a close eye on his progress ever since and is now thought to be lining up a bid this summer.
The newspaper suggests that United forward Hernandez has become tired of his limited playing opportunities at Old Trafford and with Atletico understood to have identified the Mexican as a possible replacement for Radamel Falcao, a potential swap deal has been mooted.
Hernandez has become something of a bit-part player this year, making only 3 starts in 2013, and while Sir Alex Ferguson is keen to keep hold of him, the United supremo may consider a player-plus-cash deal from Atletico involving Kebbie, but the La Liga outfit would no doubt have to put up a sizable fee as well as the promising youngster.
While Hernandez isn’t considered a regular first team player at Old Trafford he’s still a supremely talented international footballer. He’s just unlucky that he has to fight it out with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie!
