Moyes Eyes £40m Double Swoop
New Man Utd boss David Moyes will raid his old Everton this summer with a £40m double swoop for Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines, according to the Mirror.
With the summer transfer window set to re-open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, David Moyes is planning a £40m double swoop.
David Moyes will raid his old club Everton this summer with a £40m double swoop for Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines, according to the Mirror.
Moyes was confirmed as Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor on Thursday and despite not taking up the reigns at Old Trafford until the 1st July, it seems he’s already making recruitment plans for the summer with his eye firmly set on two of Everton’s star players.
The Mirror claims Moyes wants to make versatile midfielder Fellaini his first signing at United with the afro-haired Belgian viewed as a replacement for Wayne Rooney – who will sold this summer after making it clear he wants to leave the champions.
Moyes managed Rooney at Everton but the pair have endured a fractured relationship over the years, with the Toffees boss successfully suing the 27-year-old striker in 2007 over comments made in his autobiography.
Rooney asked Sir Alex Ferguson to leave United two weeks ago and it seems his new boss isn’t going to stand in his way with the report suggesting the Red Devils will cash in on the England hitman before triggering Fellaini’s £23m release clause.
The second Evertonian Moyes has his eye on is long-term Man Utd target Baines and the newspaper claiming the Manchester giants will submit a £17m bid for the left-back this summer, making it a stunning £40m double raid on the Merseysiders that is sure to rile Everton fans.
Moyes first game in charge will be on July 13th when United take on a Singha All Star XI on the club’s pre-season tour of Thailand. Will Fellaini and Baines be making their United debuts that day? We’ll have to wait and see…
