Man Utd Transfer News: Moyes Targets £10m Defender, Juve Ace Rejects Move Talk
Latest Manchester United transfer news: Today, David Moyes will make a £10m move for defender Phil Jagielka and Arturo Vidal has ruled out leaving Juventus.
With the summer transfer window set to re-open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, David Moyes will target Phil Jagielka and Arturo Vidal has ruled out leaving Juventus.
Moyes targets Jags
David Moyes will target a £10million move for Everton defender Phil Jagielka when he becomes Manchester United manager, according to the Sun. The Toffees supremo will take over from Sir Alex Ferguson on the 1st July and it seems he already has his eye on a number of his soon-to-be former players.
The Sun claims Moyes will not only make moves for Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines but will also target centre-back Phil Jagielka – who’s understood to be a firm favourite of the Scot’s.
An Everton ‘insiders’ told the newspaper:
“David loves Jags from top to bottom. He describes him as ‘absolute class. If there is one player from here he will come back for, it will be Jags.
“They get on great and David considers it a pleasure to work with him.”
Jagielka has been in superb form at the heart of Everton’s defence in recent seasons and he’s also broken into the England national team set up, but at 30-years-old he’d be something of a surprise signing in many ways as he could hardly be regarded as a long-term replacement for the likes of Rio Ferdinand or Nemanja Vidic at Old Trafford.
Vidal rules out move
Next up and talkSPORT claim long-term United target Arturo Vidal has ruled out leaving Juventus for Old Trafford this summer by insisting he’s happy in Turin.
The Chilean has excelled at the heart of Juve’s midfield since moving to Italy from Bayer Leverkusen in 2011 and scored 10 goals this season to help Antonio Conte’s men retain the Serie A title.
It seems his form has caught the eye of United with talkSPORT claiming the Premier League champions have shown interest in bringing him to England, however the 25-year-old has responded to these reports by insisting he’s happy at Juventus:
“I’m content and I am not thinking about anything else. Obviously you never know what will happen in football, but I’m happy here.
“I have an excellent relationship with boss Antonio Conte. He’s an exceptional person and an out of the ordinary coach.
“The fans also recognise my generosity. They have understood what I want to do on the pitch and they know that when I put on the Juventus shirt I play with my heart.” Vidal is quoted as saying by talkSPORT.
