Transfer News: Liverpool Linked With Ilori, Spurs Face Fight To Land Spanish Hitman
Latest transfer rumours. Today, Liverpool face a fight to land defender Tiago Ilori while Inter Milan rival Tottenham for the signature of striker Alvaro Negrado
With the summer transfer window set to re-open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Liverpool face a fight to land Tiago Ilori while Inter Milan rival Spurs for Alvaro Negrado.
Reds battle for Ilori
First up and the Express are reporting that Liverpool are interested in signing Sporting Lisbon’s young defender Tiago Ilori but will face stiff competition from Valencia for his signature.
The 20-year-old has seen his stock rise after an impressive few months in Portugal where Ilori has broken into the Sporting first team, making 12 appearances during the second half of the season.
Brendan Rodgers is currently looking for a replacement for the retiring Jamie Carragher and the Express claim he’s added Ilori’s name to his short list that already includes Real Madrid’s Raul Albiol, with the Northern Irishman understood to be willing to pay £2m for the youngster’s signature this summer.
However, it seems the Reds now face a battle to do so with the newspaper suggesting La Liga outfit Valencia are now also in the running to land the talented young defender.
Negrado in demand
Next up and talkSPORT are reporting that Inter Milan have entered the chase for long-term Tottenham target Alvaro Negrado with sporting director Marco Branca confirming the Italians interest in the striker.
Spurs are still pushing for a top-four finish but have had to make do without a regular goal-scorer this season, with Jermain Defoe and Emmanuel Adebayor only managing 16 league goals between them.
This has seen the north Londoners linked with several strikers in recent months ahead of the summer transfer window and talkSPORT suggest Negrado is among Andre Villas-Boas’s prime targets.
However, it seems they will now face stiff competition from Serie A outfit Inter Milan for the 27-year-old’s signature with Branca confirming the Italians interest:
“He is a great player and one I know very well. But now is not the time to do crazy things.
“It is one thing for us to be interested in a player and quite another for us to be able to afford his contract.” Branca is quoted as saying by talkSPORT
