Latest transfer rumours. Today, Edinson Cavani responds to interest from Chelsea and Man Utd are weighing up a move for £24m-rated Real Madrid ace Luka Modric.
With the summer transfer window set to re-open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Edinson Cavani responds to reported interest from Chelsea and Manchester United are weighing up a move for £24m-rated Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric.
Cavani coy on future
First up and ESPN claim striker Edinson Cavani has responded to reports linking him with the likes of Chelsea by insisting he’s happy at Napoli and will only consider leaving the club when a firm offer comes in.
The Uruguayan hitman has become one of the hottest properties in world football after another excellent season in Italy with his 29 goals in 34 games helping guide Napoli to a second-placed finish in Serie A. ESPN claim that Chelsea are among a host of clubs interested in signing the 26-year-old this summer while Manchester City and Real Madrid are also understood to be keen, but Cavani insists he’s happy at Napoli and will only consider leaving if a serious offer comes in.
“Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City are interested in me? I just think about Napoli,”
“If an important offer were to come in, I will talk with president De Laurentiis.
“I’m fine in Italy, I have grown as a man there and as a player with the Serie A experience.” Cavani is quoted as saying by ESPN
United eye Modric
Next up and the Express are reporting that new Manchester United boss David Moyes is considering a move for £24m-rated Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric this summer.
Moyes is expected to add to his midfield options after Paul Scholes retired at the end of last season while doubts continue over the long-term fitness of Darren Fletcher. The Express claim Barcelona ace Cesc Fabregas is also of interest but with a deal for the Spaniard thought to be difficult United have now turned their attention to Modric.
The Croatian has endured a tough first season in Spain after his big-money move from Tottenham last summer and was voted as one of the worst signings of the year in a poll by Marca, and it seems Moyes could be ready to offer him a sensational escape route.
The newspaper suggests any deal would set the champions back around £24m, which is £9m less than the 27-year-old would have cost last summer, but it remains to be seen what new Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has planned for the playmaker.
