Man Utd Transfer News: £24m-Rated Midfielder Responds To United Reports
Claudio Marchisio has responded to reports linking him with a move to Man Utd by claiming he would be ‘proud’ if the Red Devils were interested in signing him
With the summer transfer window set to open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Claudio Marchisio responds to Man Utd links.
Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has responded to reports linking him with a move to Manchester United by claiming he would be ‘proud’ if the Red Devils were interested in signing him, according to the Mirror.
The Premier League champions are thought to be on the look-out for a new central midfielder following the retirement of legend Paul Scholes, while doubts over the long-term fitness of Darren Fletcher may also push new boss David Moyes into the market this summer.
The Mirror are one of several media outlets to claim United are interested in Marchisio but while the 27-year-old insists he knows nothing of any official approach for his services, he admitted he would be proud if United were interested and would be open to a move if Juventus made it clear they no longer wanted him.
“I’ve heard that I might not be so valuable to Juve any more.
“I’ve not been told anything by the club or received any offers and I need to speak to Juve to see if I am still an important player for them.
“If that’s not the case, it will be normal to look at other teams. It is not only down to me – it has to be the club as well.
“So far, I do not know but if I get offers from Manchester United, or Monaco, I would be very proud.” Marchisio is quoted as saying by the Mirror
Marchisio is currently away on international duty with Italy at the Confederations Cup in Brazil and the newspaper suggest he could be available for £24m this summer if the Serie A champions decide to cash in.
