Transfer News: Liverpool Linked With Spanish Striker | Italians Eye Man Utd Raid
Latest transfer rumours. Today, Liverpool are linked with a move for Real Madrid striker Jose Callejon and AC Milan eye a move for Man Utd’s Nemanja Vidic.
With the summer transfer window set to open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Liverpool are linked with a move for Jose Callejon and AC Milan eye a move for Nemanja Vidic.
Liverpool keen on Callejon
First up and the Daily Star are reporting that Liverpool are keen on signing out-of-favour Real Madrid forward Jose Callejon this summer.
The 26-year-old has struggled to force his way in to the first team fold at the Bernabeu since making a £4.5m move from Espanyol in 2011, spending much of last season on the bench with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, Angel Di Maria and Gonzalo Higuain all ahead of him in the pecking order.
The Star claim that the forwards agent, Manuel Garcia Quilon, is actively trying to find his client a new club and it seems Brendan Rodgers is ready to offer him an escape route to Anfield. However, the Merseysiders could face stiff competition from Italy with Napoli and Fiorentina also believed to be keeping track of the unsettled attacker.
AC Milan eye Vidic
Next up and the Mirror are reporting that AC Milan are ready to make a move for Nemanja Vidic if Manchester United complete their proposed move for Ezequiel Garay this summer.
The report claims the Serie A giants see the Serbian as the perfect foil for Philippe Mexes at the back and will make an official move for Vidic if David Moyes makes it clear he no longer sees him in his first team plans next season.
The Mirror suggest Vidic could find himself on the bench next campaign with United expected to sign Benfica’s highly-rated centre-back Garay in the coming weeks, and it appears Milan are ready to pounce and offer him first team football in Italy.
Vidic has been hampered by injury over the past two years and at 31-years-old he’s not getting any younger, so now might be the time for United to cash in, especially if they do bring in Garay from Benfica.
