Chelsea Make Fresh £42.7m Cavani Bid As Mourinho Also Eyes Winger Bruma
Chelsea have made a fresh £42.7million bid for Napoli striker Edinson Cavani and boss Jose Mourinho is also eyeing a move for Sporting Lisbon winger Bruma.
With the summer transfer window set to open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Chelsea have made a fresh bid for Cavani and are also interested in Bruma.
Chelsea have made a fresh £42.7m bid for Napoli striker Edinson Cavani and boss Jose Mourinho is also eyeing a move for Sporting Lisbon winger Bruma, according to the Daily Mail.
Cavani has become one of the world’s hottest properties after an excellent season in Italy that saw him score 38 goals in just 43 appearances to help guide Napoli to a second place finish in the Serie A table.
This form has lead to speculation over his future and a move to the Premier League has been touted as a possibility, with the Mail suggesting Chelsea are keen to bring the 26-year-old to England this summer but have so far been unable to strike a deal with Napoli.
The newspaper claim the Blues have now returned with an improved offer worth £42.7m but the Italians remain adamant they won’t accept a penny less than the players £53.9m buy-out fee, so it seems Chelsea will have to dig a little deeper if they want to land the prolific South American.
Cavani struck twice on Sunday as Uruguay lost on penalties to Italy in the Confederations Cup third-place play-off and he later admitted the speculation over his future has been affecting him.
‘At the beginning of the Confederations Cup, I did not believe the market rumours would have given me trouble. But, at the end, I admit they have disturbed me a little.’ Cavani is quoted as saying by the Mail.
Cavani isn’t the only player of interest to Jose Mourinho with the Mail claiming the Portuguese manager has given the go-ahead for the club to make a move for Sporting Lisbon winger Bruma.
The 18-year-old is tipped for a bright future and the report suggests the Europa League winners are hoping to beat the likes of Manchester City to his signature this summer, and will aim to bring Lisbon down from their £8m asking price.
