Chelsea To Submit Improved £7m Offer For Keeper This Week

Chelsea will submit an improved £7million offer to Norwich City this week for goalkeeper John Ruddy after seeing their opening £5m bid rejected last week.

With the summer transfer window set to open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Chelsea set to submit improved offer for John Ruddy.

Chelsea will submit an improved £7m offer to Norwich City this week for goalkeeper John Ruddy, according to the Metro.

The report claims the Blues failed with an opening £5m bid last week with Norwich rejecting the offer out-of-hand before slapping a £10m price-tag on the England stoppers head, insisting they won’t let the 26-year-old go on the cheap.

Cannaries boss Chris Houghton is open to the idea of selling his No.1 as he believes he already has a replacement in Mark Bunn – who did an excellent job between the sticks last season when Ruddy was out injured – but the club are demanding Chelsea up their offer.

Jose Mourinho is desperate to bring in an able deputy for Petr Cech this summer after releasing Hilario and Ross Turnbull, while Thibaut Courtois has joined Atletico Madrid on another season-long loan deal, and the Metro claim he’s now set to go back with an improved £7m offer for Ruddy this week in the hope that will persuade Norwich into selling.

It’s understood that the keeper is yet to decide on whether to make the switch, if the two clubs do agree a fee, as he’s worried about not playing week-in, week-out in the run up to next summers World Cup, but the report suggests Chelsea will offer him a three-year deal worth £35,000-a-week which should be tempt him into moving to west London.
