Transfer News: Man Utd Eye Italian Ace | Madrid Give Up On ‘Impossible’ Bale
Latest transfer rumours. Today, Manchester United are linked with Antonio Candreva while Real Madrid have given up trying to sign Gareth Bale this summer.
With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Manchester United are linked with Antonio Candreva while Real Madrid have given up trying to sign Gareth Bale this summer.
United eye Candreva
First up and the Mirror are reporting that Manchester United are ready to go head-to-head with Napoli over the signing of midfielder Antonio Candreva.
The 26-year-old has followed up his excellent season at the heart of Lazio’s midfield last campaign with an impressive outing at the Confederations Cup with Italy, and it appears that form has caught the eye of United with the Mirror claiming new boss David Moyes is now weighting up a move for the attacking midfielder.
Candreva is owned by Udinese but was loaned out to Lazio last season and the Rome outfit now have the option to make the move permanent this summer. However, with United and Napoli interested, the player may decide to look at his options before committing to a move.
Madrid give up Bale pursuit
Next and the Daily Mail are one of several media outlets who’re reporting today that Real Madrid have shelved their pursuit of Gareth Bale for 12 months, claiming signing the Welshman this summer would be ‘impossible’.
The European giants have been publicly chasing the Spurs ace in recent months with assistant coach Zinedine Zidane and president Florentino Perez making clear their wish for the attacker to make the move to the Bernabeu.
However, it appears they’ve been given the cold shoulder by Tottenham and with Bale said to be content at White Hart Lane and no buy-out clause in his contract, Spanish publication Marca claim Madrid’s pursuit has now been put on hold for a year.
‘Real Madrid have decided to put the Gareth Bale signing on hold. After receiving yet another “no” from Tottenham Hotspur, Florentino Perez and his team have decided to call it a day and now see the signing of Bale this summer as impossible.
‘Daniel Levy, the English club’s president, is not open to negotiation, and faced with such inflexibility, reaching any sort of agreement is not viable.’
‘He is content to stay for another year in England, despite the fact that his club will not be taking part in the Champions League. He says that he’s very thankful to Tottenham and that he’s happy where he is.
‘Bale has no release clause, will not be making a transfer request, and considers that, being only 23, he has time enough to make the jump into the big time. And when that happens, he wants it to be with Los Blancos.’ Marca say on their website according to the Mail
The Mail suggest Bale is now expected to sign a new deal at Tottenham and will be offered a new £130,000-a-week contract shortly, but the north Londoners can expect another call from Madrid this time next year as they continue to try and lure the 23-year-old to La Liga.
